Skiing Sakinaw Lake

Start with the second point  (or big V) from right at the bottom,
Go straight up through the 'k' of the small Sakinaw and you will see the approximate location of Grants cottage.  We woke up from our cozy guest quarters to a tranquil view of the lake.We arrived at the marina on the very right of the map.  The guys skied at the extreme left end of the lake.  Sakinaw Lake is the largest lake and emcompasses 2068 acres, located on the lower sunshine coast (which is 103 linear miles along the shoreline).  Sakinaw Lake teems with cutthroat trout and KoKanee salmon (June through September being prime season).  The Grants have 3 boats as well as the paddle boat and kayak BUT a pontoon will be on the dock by next season.  I can imagine those picturesque boat tours, late afternoon with cocktails!!!   Better to book your reservation early.

House on Sakinaw Lake with a tram (on right)

A morning boat tour of the lake, love this boat!

One of the neighbors on Sakinaw Lake with their float plane
standing by, no ferry for them!

Looking good at 34 miles per hour on a short rope!
Ray is taking it easy after the morning competiton,
Does anyone really want to follow this!!!!
Okay, looks like we found a taker!

Looking good out there!   Yeah, look one hand!!

We gave him a big round of applause!!  Not bad at 82!!!

That was fun for all!!!

We are surprised by the sheer vastness of Sakinaw Lake

A great time at Sakinaw Lake and Grant's cottage.

Wave Good By to the Grant Compound until next time.

Shore of Sakinaw Lake.  Bottom fish
such as flounder and snapper can be
caught.  Excellent prawning, crabbing
as well as oysters and clams.

Get ready to watch some great skiing!
This is after a 7:a.m. annual ski competition of the Sakinaw
Lake ski and board club.  Ray held third until a 24 year came
in and took his place.  I am impressed!
This photo was suppose to come first but they seem to float
wherever they want to go.
